Today, Sunday, April 25 2010, electricity conked out in a broad swatch of Karachi at around 05:25 P. M and was restored at after 08:30 P. M. more than three hours later.
Complainants calling in at 118 were told that they should bear with KESC, most of the city was suffering the same fate as the caller.
The reason?
Some fault had occurred.
Why do these faults occur?
Is not there a discipline known as preventive maintenance?
Does the KESC practice preventive maintenance?
If it does, and yet the faults keep happening, the KESC should replace its technical personnel.
Faults do not occur out of the blue. There is a reason behind the fault. Someone in the organization is always charged with ensuring that reasons for faults do not develop and mature to cause breakdowns.
That someone in KESC is simply not doing the job.
