Electricity Crisis in Pakistan
I have just returned from over a fortnight 's visit to Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi etc.
The electricity supply situation there is even worse than it is in Karachi.
In Lahore they were supplying electricity every alternate hour.
Islamabad and Rawalpindi weren't any better.
The Government of Pakistan should be tackling the electricity shortage issue on a war footing, and on all fronts.
Dams, large and small ones, should be constructed.
Dams take a long period of time coming onstream. Pakistan should also be looking at Nuclear Power generation. It may be possible to construct nuclear power stations in a shorter time frame.
Major urban formations can utilize solid waste to produce a part of their electricity requirements. This will also help keep the cities clean and contribute to a saner life on the roads, which are simply litter grounds right now.
Solar power is another option which can be looked into and utilized.
