Sunday 04 April 2010
The people of Karachi were engrossed in reliving moments of Pakistan's history this morning, when at around 11:14 a. m. the KESC arbitrarily withdrew the supply of electricity that makes TV viewing possible.
4 April is the anniversary of the assassination of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Pakistan's first elected Prime Minister. TV channels were airing commemorative programmes about Mr. Bhutto when the KESC withdrew the supply of electricity without so much as "by your leave".
When I rang up the KESC's help line 118, at about 11:19, I was told there was neither any fault nor any load-shedding in my area.
Supply of electricity was restored exactly after 1 hour and 7 minutes, i. e. at 12:21 p. m.
This gives rise to the suspicion that the power outage was a load-shedding outage. Since the government has directed has directed the KESC not to indulge in load shedding on holidays and at night time, the KESC call centre has been instructed to lie to customers when load shedding is done on Sundays and at night.

They have been doing this for many days.
Beats me how and why the people are putting up with this outrageous behaviour from company that is a consistent delinquent.
