I have just made a reply in another topic on education.
That topic concerns what the teachers are paid.

Here I will try to invite the attention of the members towards the overall education scene in Pakistan.
The object of this topic is the basic education system, beginning from the pre-schooling till the secondary school examination.
Right now, Pakistan has at least three educational systems working side by side.
As a consumer of the education system in Pakistan, who has been done in by this system and is shy of calling herself educated in fear that her inadequacies be revealed, and as a parent whose off-spring are being done in too, I have come to the following conclusions.
1. The entire education system needs a drastic overhaul.
2. Curricula and syllabi planning is left to people who, sadly, are clueless about the challenges that face us today and tomorrow.
3. Nepotism is rife within the system. This is evident from the way textbooks are prescribed by schools and colleges.
4. Incompetence breeds incompetence. Incompetent teachers cannot foster the development of their pupils into competent human beings. This is asking the impossible.
5. Teaching is by itself a specialized skill. Any person who holds a degree in a certain subject is NOT qualified to teach that subject. It is imperative that more teacher training institutes be set up, staffed with competent people.
6. To attain the above, we should first set up on a war footing, in each Division of the country, an institute where teacher-trainers will be trained.
7. Prescribed texts should be uniform throughout the country. This will help concentrate corruption at the top, where it will be possible to minimize it with ease.
8. The Ministry of Education should have some cogent credentialing system for educational institutions and such system should be instituted after public debate.
9. Children are our future. They should be the only privileged class in the country. Facilities and amenities available to children everywhere in the country should be of the same level and quality.
10. Fee structures for private educational institutions should be prescribed by the Ministry of Education and should follow some understandable and demonstrable logic. School fees charged by many of big "brand names" in the private education sector DO NOT commensurate with either the facilities they provide to students, nor the salaries they pay to teachers, nor to the quality of product they deliver.
11. I alone cannot do anything about any of the above.
Over to you all.
