What are the roots of terrorism? What causes people to become terrorists, insensitive to universal human values and brutal enough to kill and maim innocent people, absolute strangers?

The roots of terrorism are many and deep. Terrorism is a world phenomenon and needs to be addressed on a global scale.
Alienation, underdevelopment, sense of deprivation (political, social, economic, all three), extremism, the larger thant their boots role of the clergy in the affairs of society, are some of the more important causes.
