Wherever one goes in any major Urban Center in Pakistan one is greeted by a ceaseless clatter of generators of various sizes if it is a load shedding interval.
Research shows that such noise pollution causes partial impairment of hearing and even total hearing loss.
The situation is particularly bad in Karachi where due to the inefficiency and negligence of KESC there are electricity outages in addition to load shedding as a matter of routine.
The Federal Government should setup a special hearing protection programme for the treatment of conditions arising from noise pollution caused by generators.
IESCO, MEPCO, REPCO, LESCO, QESCO, PESCO, PEPCO, and KESC should be asked to contribute funds for the hearing protection programme of the Federal Government.

Off course mismanagement at K. E. S. C. is responsible for so many generators working overtime in Karachi

In Pakistan there is no tradition of public action litigation nor any tradition of claims for punitive damages against companies - otherwise K. E. S. C. would be in thick soup
